Safe Baby Sleeping Positions

When I was expecting my first baby I was so excited I read every book known to man about being a mom.  My psychologist father even found books on the psychology of parenting and how to be an effective parent.  I read these.  I even read all the online threads I could find on feeding my baby, crib safety and how my baby should sleep. 

I was so concerned about SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) the first thing I looked into was the crib.  I refused to even consider a used crib because every source I found said cribs should be less than 5 years old. Older cribs might have bars that are more than 3 inches apart where a baby could get its head stuck.  Older cribs also had the worry of a poor fitting mattress.  The crib mattress should fit snuggly inside the crib railing.  Read the rest of the story...
